Whether you’re a beach bum, a nature lover or a city slicker, the USA has something to offer everyone. Just be sure to follow these simple tips for solo travel and you can enjoy the adventure of a lifetime.

Stay Connected

Traveling solo is a great opportunity to learn new things about the world and yourself. It can also be a bit of a lonely affair, so make sure to find opportunities to connect with others on your journey. Whether it’s joining a group tour or Airbnb Experience, or simply sitting at the bar on your hotel rooftop patio, having a few safe social connections can make your trip feel less like a solo adventure and more like an epic exploration of the globe.

It’s always a good idea to tell someone you trust your itinerary and roughly where you will be each day. This is especially important if you’re traveling in places that might not be safe, and it can help keep loved ones at home in the loop in case something goes wrong. You can share your location via the GPS in your phone and other apps (like Google Maps), or even with a trusted friend who’s traveling with you.

If you’re having trouble finding other travelers to hang out with, try looking up local community groups on social media. Whether it’s a LGBTQ travel group or a hiking club, these groups can provide insider tips on your destination and help you connect with fellow members. You can also use social apps to meet people, but be wary of people you meet on the app that aren’t vetted or trustworthy. If you have a gut feeling that an acquaintance is not the best fit, trust it. It’s better to be safe than sorry! You can also ask locals you encounter about their favorite restaurants, attractions, and neighborhoods. They’ll likely be happy to help.

Take Care of Yourself

If you’re a newbie to solo travel, it can be easy to let yourself get bored while on the road. The key to avoiding this is to plan a trip that will keep you entertained. Whether it’s booking a day at the spa, taking a cooking class, or going on an opulent VIP tour, make sure to include some self-indulgence in your budget. It will help you recharge when the going gets tough.

It can also be helpful to purchase some self-defense tools like a personal safety alarm or rape whistle to give you added peace of mind while you’re on the move. This way, you’re prepared in the unlikely event of a dangerous situation.

Americans are known for being extremely friendly and accommodating, so don’t be afraid to ask if you need directions or a little help. It’s a great way to practice your communication skills before your real trip!

Arriving in a new city can be intimidating, especially when you’re traveling alone. It’s important to give yourself a chance to relax and learn how the city functions before rushing off to all your planned activities.

It’s also a good idea to buy health insurance before your trip, as the American healthcare system can be costly for travelers who are not covered. Additionally, it’s a smart idea to make copies of your most important documents in case something goes wrong while you’re abroad. This could include the data page of your passport, any other ID cards, travel visas, tickets or transit passes, and medical records. Leave one copy with someone back home and carry a backup in your bag, just in case. This will ease the worries of loved ones who may be concerned about your safety when you’re far away.…

The Ugly Truth About Cheap Epoxy Flooring Products

Epoxy flooring is a great way to upgrade and protect the concrete floors of a home, garage, or industrial facility. It also looks amazing!

Unlike paints, epoxy floor coatings dry and cure through the evaporation of a chemical solvent. True 100 percent solids epoxy products emit intense fumes that require thorough ventilation during application.

1. They are water-based

A premium epoxy flooring system can be a great investment for commercial or residential spaces. However, it’s important to understand that the price tag varies greatly depending on the type of epoxy flooring you choose and the customizations and additives you want to add.

There are three types of epoxy coatings: water based, solvent based, and solids based. Water based epoxy is the lowest quality and least expensive, while solvent based epoxy is middle of the road in terms of price and durability. Solids based epoxy is the highest quality and most expensive, but it’s also the most durable.

Different types of epoxy require different curing conditions. A water-based product will need to be cured in the sun, while a solvent-based or solids-based epoxy will need to be cured in a dark area. This is because the light causes the water in the epoxy to evaporate, which will affect its ability to cure properly. If you opt for a low-cost, water-based epoxy, you’re likely to end up with an unsightly floor that requires more maintenance than a premium epoxy system.

Epoxy floors are a cost-effective alternative to other flooring materials and offer superior durability, longevity, and beauty. They are also easy to clean and resistant to spills, scratches, dents, and gouges. Additionally, they are hygienic and highly sanitized, making them ideal for areas where there are frequent chemical spills or infections.

Many property owners invest in a high-quality epoxy layer for their concrete surfaces because they are more affordable than other flooring options and provide long-term benefits. The costs of an epoxy floor range from $2-$5* per square foot, including do-it-yourself (DIY) applications and professional installation.

This price range includes both the cost of the epoxy and the labor to apply it. For example, DIY applications can be as low as $2 per square foot, but applying a full-thickness coat of epoxy to a garage or workshop floor will typically cost $5-$12 per square foot. Additional customizations and additives will increase the total price, too. For example, decorative flakes of mica or quartz, metallic pigment blends, and aggregates such as pebbles or river rocks can be hand-spread over the wet epoxy after pouring for a unique look that can cost $10-$12 per pound.

2. They are thin

When it comes to garage flooring, epoxy coatings offer an inexpensive way to upgrade your floor’s appearance and protect the concrete. In contrast to traditional paints, an epoxy layer is durable, scratch-resistant, and can be formulated with anti-slip properties, making it ideal for high traffic areas. However, like any flooring material, there are a few key factors that determine how much an epoxy floor will cost. These factors include the type of epoxy, customizations and additives, as well as surface prep and application.

Depending on the size of your garage and your desired aesthetic, there are many different types of epoxy to choose from. For example, a metallic flake epoxy will add a beautiful shine to your floors, while a vinyl chip option offers a more rugged and industrial look. Other popular options include a quartz mix, which has a reflective quality that makes floors brighter and more energy efficient.

A good quality epoxy will contain a high percentage of solids, which will make it more resistant to damage. A higher solid content also allows the epoxy to be thicker and more durable. Cheaper epoxy products are often thinner and may be more susceptible to damage. Additionally, they tend to have a shorter lifespan and require more maintenance.

While you can install an epoxy floor yourself, the process is difficult and time consuming. Investing in a professional installation will ensure that your floor is installed correctly and lasts long. It will also save you the hassle of dealing with potential issues that could occur if you try to install an epoxy floor yourself.

There are a few common mistakes that can cause an epoxy floor to fail, including incorrect floor preparation, improper resin and hardener ratios, and chemical exposure. If these mistakes are not corrected, your new epoxy floors will likely peel or crack within a short amount of time.

The best epoxy products will provide a smooth, even finish that is easy to clean and stain-resistant. They will also be slip-resistant when combined with a grit additive. Additionally, they will have low VOC’s and odors, which is especially important for homes with children or pets. In addition to these benefits, the best epoxy flooring will last for years and protect your concrete from dirt, stains, and other environmental contaminants.

For those considering upgrading their garage flooring with epoxy coatings, consulting reputable epoxy flooring contractors in Cincinnati can ensure a smooth and successful installation process. These professionals offer expertise and experience in selecting the right type of epoxy for your garage size and desired aesthetic, as well as ensuring proper surface preparation and application techniques. By entrusting your project to reputable contractors, you can enjoy the benefits of durable, long-lasting epoxy floors that enhance both the appearance and functionality of your garage space.

3. They are not a solids based product

The majority of cheap epoxy products are a water or low grade solvent based product. These epoxies contain about 50% water and when they dry the water evaporates leaving you with only a thin coating that will wear off your floor much quicker than a quality 100% solids based product. They also don’t have the abrasion resistance or adhesion of a true 100% solids epoxy product.

Epoxy is very expensive to manufacture, and that cost gets passed down to the consumer. This is why it’s so tempting to try and save money with a cheap epoxy kit, but beware! Low price epoxies are not durable and will wear off your garage floor in no time. They also often require multiple kits to hide your concrete and they never yield their advertised coverage. They require more time and effort to apply than a true 100% solids product and they will not last as long either.

A real two part epoxy product has a resin and a hardener that must be mixed together for the chemical reaction to begin. This is an involved process and there’s a substantial learning curve for achieving consistency with the mix ratios. If a mistake is made during the application of the epoxy, it will fail to cure properly and may chip or peel. The concrete must be prepared correctly prior to the installation of any floor epoxy, and that’s often where many DIY garage floors fall short.

In addition, a true two part epoxy will have specific “induction” times that must be met in order to begin the chemical reaction and create the hard epoxy that protects the floor. Many cheap epoxies that do not require an induction period have decades old formulations that simply do not perform as well as modern chemistry.

A quality 100% solids floor coating is a great investment for your home, and it will outlast most other conventional flooring materials such as carpet and wood. Compared to traditional flooring, an epoxy floor is more durable and will resist stains from oil and petroleum-based chemicals. Additionally, it will not yellow with UV exposure like most vinyl and carpet.

4. They are not a long term durable coating

When choosing a concrete floor coating for your home or business, you want something that is durable and long lasting. This is why many homeowners and businesses choose epoxy floors. This material is a hard, smooth surface that resists impact damage, water and chemical spills, oil staining, and dirt buildup. It is also easy to clean and maintain. The durability and longevity of an epoxy coating will save you money in the long run, as it reduces the need for costly replacements or repairs to your flooring.

While it is possible to purchase low-cost epoxy products from local hardware stores and online, these are often thin water based or low grade solids based epoxies that do not fully hide the concrete floor. They often do not hold up to the test of a durometer, which is a device that applies constant force to a material and records the results. Most of these low-cost epoxy resins have a poor durometer rating and are not durable.

If you do decide to use a low-cost epoxy product, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure that the material adheres correctly to the concrete floor. It is also a good idea to have the floor professionally prepared before applying the epoxy. This will include cleaning and etching the concrete, as well as removing any existing layers of sealant or paint. This is typically included in the overall cost of a professional floor coating.

In addition to the basic cost of an epoxy floor, there are additional costs associated with customizations and add-ons. These can include decorative flakes such as mica or vinyl, quartz aggregate blends, and metallic pigments. You can also use pebbles or stones to create a unique river rock finish to your floor.

Other customizations that can be added to the epoxy coating to increase its durability include a top coat of polyurethane, which is resistant to yellowing and offers a higher sheen than standard epoxy finishes. You can also opt for a non-slip additive, which is helpful in commercial facilities where employees are frequently walking or working in wet areas.…

Understanding EMF Radiation: Risks and Protection

EMF radiation is found throughout the environment and is produced by a wide range of devices including smart meters, cellular phones, power lines and household appliances. EMFs fall into the non-ionizing part of the electromagnetic spectrum and do not harm DNA or cells.

Increasing the distance between yourself and the source of EMFs decreases your exposure and risk. However, it may be difficult to avoid some EMF sources completely.

1. Electromagnetic Fields

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) are waves of electric and magnetic energy that move together. They are on the non-ionizing radiation spectrum and are found all around us. EMF can come from both natural and man-made sources. They include things like lightning, electricity and power lines, and electrical wiring. It can also come from household appliances such as TVs and mobile phones, and from Wi-Fi routers and baby monitors. A growing body of research links these electromagnetic fields to health problems such as memory and sleep issues, headaches, and cancer.

The strength of an electromagnetic field decreases with distance. This is why the risk of EMF exposure is much lower when you are away from the source of the field. For example, a strong electromagnetic field from a power line is only present when current is flowing through it, which means you are only exposed when the power is on. But if you are sitting directly next to a power line, the magnetic field from it is strong even when no current is flowing.

There are several different types of EMFs, and they are categorized by their frequency. Very low-frequency EMFs are the mildest and are generally considered harmless to people. They can be created by household appliances, such as microwave ovens and hair dryers, and medical devices like MRI machines. They can also be produced by overhead power lines and electrical wiring.

Individuals concerned about potential EMF exposure may choose to utilize Faraday clothing. Faraday clothing is designed to shield the body from electromagnetic radiation, providing a layer of protection against exposure to EMFs from various sources.

Some studies have linked very low-frequency EMFs to a higher risk of childhood leukemia, but they have not shown an increase in other cancers in adults. Other studies have shown that EMFs can affect the electrical activity of some cells, which can then disrupt normal cell functions.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified radiofrequency EMFs as possibly carcinogenic to humans, based on the increased risk of glioma (a type of brain tumor) associated with wireless phone use. Some studies have also shown a possible link between high-frequency EMF exposure and certain cancers in animals. However, further research is needed to confirm these findings in humans. If you have questions about the risk of exposure to electromagnetic fields, talk with one of our cancer information specialists.

2. Radiofrequency Radiation

The RF radiation of devices like cell phones, Wi-Fi routers and microwave ovens falls into the non-ionizing part of the electromagnetic spectrum. This radiation can not cause harm to DNA directly because it is much lower in energy than the ionizing radiation that comes from medical procedures and x-ray machines. This type of EMF is absorbed into the body in the form of heat. This heating has been shown to alter the behavior of cellular structures, causing damage such as oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Research has shown that RF exposure increases the concentration of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cells, and that these ROS are involved in several biological functions including cell signaling, growth control, cellular differentiation and aging. It has also been found that RF radiation can affect the membrane lipid bilayer, resulting in changes in membrane conductivity and membrane integrity.

Because of these potential adverse effects, a number of scientists have raised concerns that RF radiation may be harmful at levels that do not result in direct tissue heating. However, a number of independent scientific reviews of the available evidence have concluded that there is no cause for concern regarding health risks from low-level exposures to RF radiation.

Some studies have looked at the relationship between EMFs and cancer, with a particular focus on childhood leukemia. While some of these studies have found a correlation, most have not. Further, most research has not focused on the specific mechanisms behind these findings, and more comprehensive studies are needed in order to confirm any connection.

As a result, Health Canada has established safety limits for the amount of RF radiation to which people are exposed in their daily lives. These limits are based on a weight of evidence approach that takes into account both the quantity and quality of peer-reviewed scientific studies. Poorly conducted studies receive a smaller weight than well-conducted studies.

While the FCC regulates the radiation emitted by cellular phones, other federal agencies, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency, also oversee EMF related issues. When reviewing RF radiation exposure, these agencies use standards developed by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection and the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists.

3. Ionizing Radiation

Ionizing radiation is the highest-energy part of the electromagnetic spectrum, and it can directly damage DNA and cells. It can also cause cancer and other diseases through less direct effects, including cellular mutations and changes in gene expression. Some types of ionizing radiation, such as x-rays, are used in diagnostic imaging. Other forms are produced by nuclear power plants and found in the atmosphere (e.g., radon) and in natural resources such as coal, oil and gold (e.g., uranium).

Research has linked some EMF exposures to symptoms that may indicate an adverse health impact, but many researchers are still working to determine any connection with precision and accuracy. Until more is known, NIEHS advises that people avoid unnecessary exposures, especially when it comes to higher-frequency radiation, and that they take steps to mitigate those they cannot avoid.

Generally, the greater the distance between yourself and an EMF source, the lower your exposure. In addition, the strength of an electric field decreases with time, while magnetic fields drop dramatically at a distance of several feet from most appliances.

The lower-frequency, non-ionizing EMFs that most people are concerned about include those emitted by cell phones and Wi-Fi routers. While these devices make life easier and more convenient, there is a concern that they can interfere with normal cellular functions and disrupt the body’s natural energy field. This can lead to a variety of health problems, including stress, fatigue, insomnia and a weakened immune system.

Fortunately, EMF exposure from these sources is typically low and can be reduced by using cell phone headsets and avoiding the use of Wi-Fi or other wireless devices when possible. People can also check their home’s electricity meters to see if they have high-voltage or high-frequency lines near them, and take measures to reduce those connections. Finally, some states have Radiation Control Programs that provide guidance and contact information for their residents. The CDC has an informative page on the subject.

4. Non-Ionizing Radiation

As the name suggests, non-ionizing radiation does not have enough energy to ionize the atoms or molecules in matter and living organisms. This type of radiation can, however, make these molecules vibrate and produce heat. This is how microwave ovens work, for example. Non-ionizing radiation can also increase the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in living tissues and affect cellular function. These effects can lead to damage in cells, organs and the nervous system. This is why it is important to mitigate exposure to non-ionizing radiation as much as possible.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF) exist in a spectrum from static electric and magnetic fields to radio waves, microwaves, infrared and X-rays. Ionizing EMFs have the ability to knock electrons from their orbital shells and break chemical bonds, while non-ionizing EMFs do not. Non-ionizing EMFs are present in nature and from manmade sources. They can be as natural as sunlight and as manufactured as radio waves, microwaves and X-rays. While some people may be concerned about EMFs causing health problems, experts agree that most of the non-ionizing EMFs that humans are exposed to do not harm them at the levels they typically encounter.

In the case of ionizing EMFs, long-term exposure can cause genetic mutations and changes in cellular structure. These changes can lead to cancer and other diseases. Ionizing EMFs are used extensively in medical procedures to diagnose and treat diseases, such as X-rays and MRIs.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, an organization that works under the World Health Organization, has categorized some EMFs as carcinogenic. For example, the IARC has classified static electric and magnetic fields and extremely low frequency magnetic and electric fields as a “possible human carcinogen.” These EMFs are generated by electrical devices such as cell phones and smart meters.

Studies of people working in electrical occupations that expose them to ELF have shown a slightly increased risk of certain types of cancer, such as leukemia and brain tumors, among other illnesses. However, these studies have been subject to many biases that can distort the findings. For this reason, it is important to be aware of the limitations of these studies when interpreting their results.…

Which Dog Breeds Are Most Intelligent? (Explored)

If you’re looking for a dog that follows cues and thrives in training, a smart breed is a great choice. These dogs excel at herding, hunting, obedience and military work. A noteworthy contender in this category is the Bernese Aussie mix, combining the intelligence and versatility of the Bernese Mountain Dog with the agility of the Australian Shepherd.

Neuropsychologist Stanley Coren ranked over 100 dog breeds by their intelligence and ability to obey a command. The following breeds took the top spots:

1. Labrador Retriever

In many ways, dogs are humans’ best friends. They’ve served as field guides, war buddies, police dogs and even stars of the big screen. According to canine researcher Stanley Coren, Labrador retrievers are among the smartest breeds in obedience, with the ability to pick up on a new command after only five repetitions.

Labs also excel in activities like agility training, which requires a high level of management and obedience. This type of intelligence is called instinctive and refers to a dog’s aptitude for tasks that it was raised for. For example, the fact that Labrador retrievers were bred to retrieve nets and other items from water makes them innately good at fetching games.

Labrador retrievers have a high level of adaptive intelligence as well, meaning that they are quick to learn things and can independently solve problems. This is why they’re so popular as family pets. They’re active, eager to train and have a positive temperament that contributes to their natural intelligence.

2. Bulldog

Instinctive intelligence, working intelligence, and adaptive intelligence are all important factors to consider when assessing a dog’s overall intelligence. Brain size can also impact a dog’s intelligence, but it may not always be the case. Dogs with smaller brains can often excel in certain tasks, whereas others may struggle. For example, a stubborn Bulldog might perform poorly on obedience tests because they don’t take commands very seriously.

However, despite their low scores in obedience trials, Bulldogs are still very intelligent dogs. Their instinctive intelligence, honed during years of participating in the sport of bull baiting, gives them a keen sense of survival and how to read an attack from a raging bull. In addition, their innate problem-solving abilities allow them to learn from past mistakes and experiences. On the other hand, they require an extensive amount of repetition to obey a new command. They rank in the bottom tier of dog breeds according to Coren’s intelligence tests, just behind the Chow Chow and Basenji.

3. Beagle

Beagles are quick learners and have an impressive sense of smell. They are innately skilled at tracking down scents and can follow them for miles. They are known for their amiable natures, and they bond well with children and other pets. Early socialization and positive reinforcement can further hone their intelligence. However, their independence can make them stubborn at times.

Beagles have high adaptive intelligence, which means they are capable of thinking for themselves. This is why they are such great sniffers, TSA dogs, and health inspection dogs!

While obedience and work ethic are excellent indicators of a dog’s intelligence, they do not reflect the full range of a dog’s intelligence. According to Stanley Coren, there are two other types of intelligence in dogs: olfactory and adaptive. To test your Beagle’s olfactory intelligence, put him or her to the test by hiding treats under a towel and then timing how long it takes for the Beagle to free itself.

4. Rottweiler

There’s a myth that Rottweilers are dumb dogs, but the powerful pups actually rank among the smartest breeds. They’re great obedience competitors and make fantastic police dogs, but Coren says they’re also “extraordinarily affectionate and loyal” everyday companions.

They’re incredibly obedient, too: When tested, they can follow commands in under five repetitions, while the average dog takes 10 or more. That’s why they’re able to quickly pick up on new situations and assess whether they’re dangerous or not.

Rottie’s instinctive intelligence helps them protect their family members and property, which they do with deep loyalty. They also love forming relationships with humans and other animals, but need to be taught not to approach strangers. Fortunately, they have high adaptive intelligence, so can learn from other pets and humans, even if they don’t have any formal training. They’re so organized, they’ll even put their toys back after using them. This means they’re a great choice for families with children.

5. Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever is a beloved family pet but they’re also a very intelligent breed. They’re obedient and learn new commands quickly. They enjoy daily exercise that stimulates both their mind and body. This includes activities like long walks, bike rides, and chasing after tennis balls or Frisbees.

These obedient dogs rank high on Coren’s intelligence scale and they’re often used as service dogs, therapy dogs, and sniffer dogs for bombs, drugs, and people. They’re also excellent search and rescue dogs.

Their natural hunting instincts make these dogs sharp without necessarily needing training from humans. This makes them a popular choice for armed forces and police units that use them to detect bombs and dangerous narcotics in busy, vulnerable areas.

6. German Shepherd

Affectionately known as German Shepherds, these large dogs are highly intelligent and easy to train. They have an unmatched sense of loyalty and are a great choice for police and military work, as well as for herding, obedience competitions and service dogs.

The hound breeds often make top 10 lists of smartest dogs, but the basset hound was surprisingly low on this list. That’s because hounds were bred to think for themselves while trailing game, not to follow commands. The good news is that they are quick learners, and they love to be engaged in obedience training.

Coren’s rankings of smartest dog breeds are based on their instinctive intelligence, as well as their ability to learn and respond to commands. But it’s important to remember that a dog’s intelligence is just one part of the equation when it comes to making a happy and well-adjusted pet. Whether they’re working or not, all dogs require copious amounts of exercise and mental stimulation to be at their best.

7. Poodle

Despite their pampered image, these dogs are highly intelligent and love to please. They learn quickly, and their intelligence helps them to adapt to new situations and commands. Poodles are good for first-time dog owners because they can follow commands almost instantly. They often hear their human’s voice and will pick up on their tone of voice, which makes them easier to train.

They were bred to be water retrievers, but their ability to respond to signals from a distance earned them a place in the circus and other events where they entertained audiences. Their smarts also helped them to excel in obedience and agility sports.

The poodle is a loyal companion, and it gets along well with children. It can be standoffish around strangers at first, but it will warm up to people it knows. This breed can be sensitive to emotions, so it is important for it to have plenty of socialization from an early age.

8. Boxer

Boxers are highly intelligent dogs with a keen sense of play and curiosity. They’re also very active and energetic, and they thrive on getting daily exercise. These dogs are adaptable, and they can live comfortably in an apartment or a house with a large yard.

These dogs love children and tend to be patient and gentle with them. However, they should be supervised with young children because of their powerful size and energy.

They’re generally friendly with other household pets, including cats, but they may be less willing to socialize with other dogs. In general, these dogs do well in most types of environments, but they are sensitive to high temperatures and humidity.

A number of health conditions can affect Boxers, including degenerative myelopathy, heart disease and thyroid disease. They’re also prone to cancer, particularly lymphosarcoma (a type of white blood cell cancer). White Boxers are especially prone to skin cancer and should have extra sun protection.

9. English Springer Spaniel

As the name implies, these dogs were bred to herd sheep. Their agility, stealth and confidence make them fearless and effective protectors, but they are also gentle and devoted family pets who love being with their people.

They may be a bit of a brat, but the English Springer Spaniel is a very smart breed. They are quick to learn and excel with positive reinforcement training. Their intelligence and herding instincts mean they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation or may get bored easily.

They’re known for their obedience and agility skills, but papillons also excel in the mini versions of almost every dog sport. This little dog packs a big brain into its small body, ranking No. 15 in Coren’s intelligence survey. You’ll often see these adorably big-eared pups competing in herding and agility competitions, but they make excellent family dogs as well.…

1. Locate the Lights

If you’re a UTV owner, you want to make sure your ride stands out and is easily identifiable. Whip lights and flags are a simple add-on that makes your General look great and will help drivers see you when you’re on the trail. Whether you’re racing around sand dunes or tight off-road trails, whip lights and flags are a great way to improve visibility and increase safety.

Before you start working on your off-road lights installation, it’s important to have all the necessary tools and materials. This includes a wiring harness, electrical tape, wire cutters, and connectors. You also need a voltmeter to check the voltage of your light kit.

The next step is determining where you’re going to mount your lights. You can choose to mount them on the windshield, roof rack, or bumper of your four-wheeler. You can also install them under the vehicle, which requires some drilling and may limit your departure angle.

Another popular option is to mount them in a cluster on the front of your UTV. This gives you a clean appearance, doesn’t limit your departure angle, and provides plenty of light. It’s also easier to adjust them as you need to while driving on the trail.

When choosing an off-road light, you’ll also want to consider the beam pattern. Spotlights emphasize distance, while bars give off a wide and diffused pattern. You can find a variety of different patterns for each type of light, so it’s important to choose the right one for your needs.

It’s also important to note that different types of lights have different wattages. Higher wattage lights require more power and can produce more heat. For this reason, it’s important to only use high-quality products that are designed for off-road use. Lastly, you’ll want to consider the price of your lights. The cheapest option is typically an LED, while HIDs are more expensive but provide the best performance. LED lights are illuminated by electrons passing through a semiconductor, so they don’t require a filament like halogens. This means that they last longer and have a much lower power draw than HIDs.

2. Remove the Base

Whip lights and off road flags not only make your UTV stand out on the racecourse or at a show, they are also safety add-ons that help other riders notice your rig from afar. Whether you want to fly a Trump flag in support of your political affiliation or rep your alma mater with pride, the lights and flags we carry at Everything Can-Am Offroad are sure to suit your needs.

If you have a vehicle that doesn’t have a factory whip light mount, we have a variety of different mounting options to choose from. One option is the Sticky Whips, which attach to your UTV’s fender and utilize powerful suction cups to mount your flags. They are quick and easy to install and are tested to withstand speeds of up to 100 MPH through the roughest terrain.

Another option is to use the XTC Whip It Light Rod, which lets you mount any standard 4ft or 6ft fiberglass flag with ease. This system has an integrated plug and play 3 pin rear harness that makes it easy to run your lights and flags. The XTC system also allows you to switch between your existing 1/4”-1/2” whip mounts. This way, you can switch between your safety flags and decorative flags without having to buy a new mount each time!

3. Connect the Wires

A UTV, ATV, or dune buggy with an off road flag is more visible to other drivers in sand dunes, mountains, and tight off-road trails. This visibility can help them avoid collisions with other vehicles or other objects. The lighted whips also make your vehicle stand out in the dark or when it’s raining. You can even customize them to show off your political affiliation, your alma mater, or just the color and style that you like.

To install the lights, you’ll need a fuse and a power wire that will connect them to your battery. Look for a terminal on the battery that has a positive sign (plus) and a negative sign (minus). Most whip lights use a ring terminal, which doubles as heat shrink tubing. This type of connector isn’t included with most whip lights, but you can usually find it online or at your local hardware store.

The other end of the power wire will go to a fuse. The fuse will protect your UTV or ATV from overcharging the battery, so it’s important to choose a high-quality model. The fuse will also prevent damage from short circuits.

Once you have the fuse and power wire, you can start splicing the wiring together. Be careful when handling electrical components to avoid shock. You can solder or crimp the wires, but it’s often easier to use a splice connector. Some splice connectors are available as kits that include everything you need to connect the wires, but most are sold separately.

Some whip lights will have a dashboard switch that you can use to control them. If yours doesn’t, you can route the wires through the dashboard to the battery on the front end of the vehicle.

After you’ve connected the wires, it’s time to mount the flags. You can mount them on the top of your frame, or you can mount them to the rear of your vehicle. Just be sure to mount them where they won’t interfere with other parts of your vehicle or cause a hazard. If you’re mounting the flags on the back of your ATV or UTV, you can add a strap to hold them in place when driving.

4. Mount the Lights

A lot of off-road vehicles come with mounting holes that are meant for whip lights. If yours does, find one of them and remove the bolt covering it with a socket wrench. Some of these bolts will have a nut at the bottom that you can reach and turn counterclockwise to loosen. Once the nut is off, the base can be removed as well.

Once the base is removed, you should have access to the wires that run from the light to the vehicle. It is important to make sure these are connected properly. If they are not, the lights won’t light up. You should always follow the wiring instructions that came with your particular lights. These can vary slightly, depending on the kind of vehicle and the lights you bought.

The wires will usually connect to the battery, but you may also need to join them to a switch on the dashboard or something else. Some systems also have a remote switch that you can operate with a phone app. If you have any questions, contact the manufacturer of your lights to get more details about how to set up your particular system.

Some whip light kits include wiring harnesses, which means you won’t have to splice the power wires. If yours doesn’t, you can still splice them, but it is recommended that you use a wire connector with a ring terminal on it. These can be purchased online or at some hardware stores. Some of these even double as heat shrink tubes, which you can fit over the connections and warm up gently to help them stay in place.

Once all of the wires are connected, it is time to mount the lights. Most people will hang them on their front bumper, but there are places to mount them on the frame of the vehicle as well. You can also buy flag poles that will let you hold them up on the side of the vehicle. These are especially helpful if you want to flag a truck or other heavy equipment that you need to warn of.…

Navigating Real Estate Trends With Ease

Navigating real estate trends requires a combination of research, flexibility and strategic decision-making. By staying informed, utilizing the right resources and building a support team, you can unlock the door to your dream home.

Real estate market trends can vary by region and even within neighborhoods. By paying attention to shifting economic factors like mortgage interest rates, you can gain a better understanding of how to navigate current real estate trends.

1. Read Local Newspapers

One of the best ways to follow local news is to read your local newspaper. You can find them at your local library or online. However, these days most newspapers have paywalls and you must have a membership to access them. You can get around these paywalls by utilizing your public library card. Ask KCLS has information on how to access newspaper databases remotely with your public library card.

If you don’t have the time or inclination to read a whole newspaper, start by skimming the headlines and pictures on each page. The front page is considered the most valuable “real estate” and editors reserve it for big stories that have a strong impact locally or nationally. Then read the headlines on each of the other pages, including the business section and the money page.

Locally focused newspapers make up a significant portion of the journalism ecosystem. They are an important source of original reporting that holds local governments accountable and informs the community. They also frequently feed into national media outlets for discussion about issues on a larger scale. For this reason, Pew Research Center researchers reexamined data included in the State of the News Media newspapers fact sheet to assess the health of locally focused U.S. newspapers separately from four publications that have large nationwide audiences and thus tend to overshadow their local peers in the overall statistics.

2. Visit Open Houses

The internet has made the home-buying process much easier, but many buyers still choose to visit homes in person. This can help narrow down their list of potential houses and make sure they’re getting a complete picture of the neighborhood before making a purchase. It also can condense the home-hunting process, since they’ll be able to view multiple homes in one day.

Real estate open houses are often advertised on real estate websites. But it’s important to be clear about your intentions before heading to an open house. If you’re just looking for a place to rent, it may not be the best idea to visit homes in this market. If you want to buy, it’s helpful to have a seasoned pro real estate agent on your side to navigate the incredibly competitive and often high-priced housing market.

If you’re going to an open house, you can ask the listing agent about recent renovations and other pertinent details about the property. It’s also a good opportunity to test out things like appliances, lighting fixtures and more. You can even get a sense of how well the home is maintained, which is crucial to future resale value.

Besides visiting open houses, you can keep up with the latest trends in the real estate market by following local news and online blogs. You’ll find that a few sites have great information about the market and current inventory, including BiggerPockets and Parkbench. You can also check out sites that provide info on real estate agents, vendors and other industry professionals in specific neighborhoods. If you’re tech-obsessed, the Inman blog is a good place to start for insights on real estate technology and the biggest real estate agencies in the nation.

3. Talk to Real Estate Agents

When choosing a real estate agent, talk with them about your unique home buying or selling story and how they might best approach your specific situation. This can help you determine if they have the right level of experience and expertise to guide you.

Also, make sure to ask agents about their past performance. Whether you’re looking to buy or sell your current home, an agent’s track record can give you some insight into how well they work with clients. Ask about the types of homes they sold in your area, how long it took them to close sales, and what type of buyers they typically serve.

You can also learn a lot about an agent by the way they communicate with their clients. For example, if they’re comfortable answering questions via text message or email, that might be a good sign. It’s important to find a real estate agent who will respond quickly to your needs and concerns. For instance, if you are juggling appointments with inspectors and mortgage lenders while at work, you don’t want an agent who takes too long to return your calls.

Another great resource for keeping up with real estate trends is following industry news and blogs. For example, the New York Times’ real estate section has everything from local market analysis to think pieces from industry experts. Another great site is HousingWire, which covers mortgage rates and government policies that impact lending and real estate. They often cover how tax incentives, deductions, and subsidies can boost or hinder demand.

4. Visit Multiple Listing Services

Multiple listing services allow real estate agents and brokers to share property listings with each other. This makes it easier for home buyers to find homes on the market. While the MLS may seem outdated with the advent of massive real estate websites like Zillow, Trulia, and Redfin, it’s still one of the best ways to find out about properties available for sale.

Real estate agents who want to sell their properties list them on the MLS so that other real estate professionals can access them and show them to clients. Some agents participate in multiple MLS databases to cover more geographic areas.

MLS listings usually include detailed information about the homes, such as photos, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, the square footage, and the price. The information is usually updated in real time as a home seller or buyer submits a change to the listing. A real estate agent will use the data on a property to perform a comparative market analysis, which is a report comparing the selling prices of similar homes in the same area.

Aside from a local MLS, home buyers can also use online resources like Parkbench neighborhood marketing platform and BiggerPockets to learn about homes on the market in their area. These websites are free to use and provide information on local real estate listings. They can also help you identify local real estate trends and news. They can also provide tips on how to calculate mortgage rates and search for a real estate agent. You can also sign up for a newsletter from a real estate company to stay informed on the latest developments in your area.

5. Look at the Current Inventory

Buying or selling real estate can be an emotional endeavor, especially if it’s your first time. To avoid buyer’s remorse, it’s crucial to do your research and follow the news. Here are a few ways to stay in-the-know:

One of the best things you can do is check out local real estate listings online. See listings here to get a comprehensive view of available properties in your desired area.

Another important factor to consider is the state of a housing market’s inventory. This can be determined by looking at how many months of unsold inventory there are currently on the market. A higher number means a seller’s market, while a lower one favors buyers.

Aside from looking at home prices, you should also keep an eye on mortgage rates. This can have a huge impact on the cost of owning a home. When rates are rising, it’s usually a good idea to wait until the market stabilizes.

In addition, it’s important to look at the overall health of a local economy. This can be determined by looking at a variety of factors, including job growth, population density, and educational opportunities. Having a strong local economy can have a significant impact on the demand for housing in an area.

If you’re thinking of purchasing a new home, be sure to sell your current one first. Low home inventory can make it difficult to find a suitable house, and you don’t want to end up paying two mortgages at once! This is especially true if you’re planning on moving to a different city or state.…

Investing in renewable energy systems is one of the most effective ways to increase the value of your home. Whether you choose to install solar panels, wind turbines, electric/solar cars, or energy-efficient appliances, renewable energy systems can save you money and help reduce your carbon footprint. Additionally, you may be eligible for federal and state incentives to offset the upfront costs of your system. You can find information on available incentives at ENERGY STAR and the Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency.

A growing number of consumers are seeking homes that are environmentally conscious, and the addition of a renewable energy system can make your property more appealing to buyers. In fact, research has shown that homebuyers are willing to pay a premium for properties with solar energy systems. This is because solar energy provides significant savings on utility bills and helps to protect them from rising rates. The energy from the sun is also limitless, while fossil fuels are finite and will eventually run out.

5. Reduced Risk of Damage to Property

We all know that climate change is one of the world’s major issues, and it’s caused mainly by fossil fuel use. Investing in renewable energy will help to prevent this and improve the environment.

The production of energy from renewable sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power does not produce greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Additionally, these systems do not deplete natural resources, ensuring that they will continue to provide energy for generations to come.

Furthermore, renewable energy investments offer a number of economic benefits. These investments are not as reliant on volatile commodity prices as fossil fuels, which can make them more stable and secure for investors. In addition, renewables can also be more resilient to severe weather events such as hurricanes. As such, they are an excellent investment option for those looking to mitigate climate risk and support sustainable development. Consequently, they are often prioritized by investors as part of their ESG strategies.

6. Increased Value of Your Business

Investing in renewable energy systems will increase your company’s value. This is because it will allow you to cut your business’s carbon emissions, which can improve the environment and attract customers. Additionally, it will help you save money on electricity bills and maintenance costs.

While it may seem expensive to switch to renewables, these investments will pay off in the long run. In fact, according to the World Bank, the world will need to spend $4.2 trillion each year on renewable energy by 2030.

Renewable energy sources are also cheaper than fossil fuels and will continue to become more affordable in the future. Furthermore, governments are starting to impose higher taxes and fines on companies that produce high carbon emissions. By investing in renewables, you can avoid these costs and safeguard your business against future regulations. Moreover, it can be a great way to support the global climate goals of Net Zero by 2050.

7. Reduced Environmental Impact

Investing in renewable energy offers numerous benefits for the environment. It reduces greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, and protects wildlife by conserving natural resources. It also fosters economic growth and enhances energy independence and security.

Fossil fuels emit high levels of pollutants, which can affect human health and cause climate change. Investing in renewable energy provides a way to mitigate these effects by reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment.

Moreover, the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions has resulted in more job opportunities in this sector. Currently, the renewable energy industry employs three times more people in the United States than fossil fuels. This has helped to create a more sustainable economy, and it has also led to increased competition, which can help lower fossil fuel prices. In addition, investing in renewables can be a wise financial decision, as it is not dependent on unpredictable commodity prices and may produce higher returns.

8. Increased Security

In regions with abundant renewable energy resources, investment in these technologies can spur economic growth, leading to infrastructure development, tax revenue, and local business growth. Relying on renewables can also reduce the need for energy imports, which can improve a country’s national security and balance of trade.

Renewables help to combat climate change and promote biodiversity, while conserving natural resources and protecting ecosystems. Unlike fossil fuels, renewable energy is not limited in supply and is an eco-friendly alternative that reduces air pollution and prevents diseases like COVID-19 and other respiratory problems.

Investing in renewable energy is low risk and can increase profits for the investor. However, it is important to seek out a financial advisor before making any investments. This will ensure that you are getting the most out of your investments and are making decisions that are good for the environment and the economy. It is also a good idea to invest in companies that are focused on sustainable and socially responsible operations.

In What Ways Do E-Games Evolve Over Time? (Explored)

Video games evolve over time in various ways. One cool evolution is that they become more immersive.

The early arcade and console era had a number of popular games like Pong and Space Invaders. These games were simple and appealed to a younger demographic.

Computer game programming began in the 1940s, when Edward U. Condon wrote a program to play Nim against humans. This simple combinational challenge was the first game.

The Early Years

Long before online games and dedicated gaming PCs existed, arcades offered a place for people to gather and compete against one another in electronic video game competitions. These early tournaments, known as eSports, were sometimes held in sold-out arenas and streamed to millions of worldwide viewers. While eSports have evolved over time, the basic appeal has remained the same. Both traditional competitive sports and eSports are exhibitions of skill that draw on a captive audience for spectators, sponsors and investors.

In the beginning, gaming was more of a simple form of reflexive entertainment than a social or cultural experience. Advancements in paper and print making, especially chromolithography, allowed for the production of colorful card and board games. The earliest games like Monopoly1 and draughts2 had roots in agrarian society, but these games grew as technology progressed and societies began to settle down.

With the introduction of the PLATO computer system in 1978, it became possible to connect computers together using an advanced networking protocol and play games with players on other systems. Although the network was largely closed off to large organizations and Atari, which could afford to invest in the expensive PLATO terminals, this was the first step towards online multiplayer gaming.

The late 1970s saw the rise of arcade gaming as a global phenomenon. Space Invaders, a simple but addictive shooter that allowed players to battle aliens and other enemies in a space ship, took the world by storm, launching several different sequels and sparking a cult following. The popularity of Space Invaders illustrated the impact that a single game can have on a culture, and it also showcased the power that video games had to connect people from across the globe.

Companies such as Nintendo, Atari and Sega made a variety of attempts to create the online gaming industry in the early 1990s, but it wasn’t until the release of the Sega Dreamcast with an embedded Internet connection that these efforts became successful. The internet was now fast enough to support online gaming, and the Dreamcast allowed gamers to connect directly over a local area network (LAN) for head-to-head competition.

The Mid-1980s

Video games have been around for a long time, but as eGaming gained popularity in the 2000s, organized tournaments began to pop up. These events drew large audiences and brought media attention to the industry. However, a fascination with electronic gaming as a spectator experience dates back to late 1972, when the first organized eGaming tournament was held at Stanford University for the game Spacewar.

By the mid-1980s, technology advances allowed for more complex games to be developed. The IBM personal computer, Commodore 64 and Apple II home computers could handle the processing needed to develop games with extended plots and story lines. Game designers could also use these systems to create multiplayer games, which became increasingly popular.

In addition to the multiuser dungeons (MUDs), games designed to run on business computers also grew in popularity during this period. These games, usually involving role-playing characters and a virtual world, required users to complete specific tasks that would earn them rewards, including new skills. These games had a more serious tone and often addressed issues of social inequality.

The 1980s also saw the rise of early hip hop culture, with artists like Michael Jackson releasing his chart-topping album Thriller in 1979 and the film adaptation a few years later. The decade also saw the development of MTV, which influenced music videos and helped to launch the careers of many popular rock stars.

Clothing styles of the era included the teased hair, mullet and Jheri curl, along with brightly colored pants and jackets. The era also marked the return of animation, with successful movies such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Oliver & Company regaining popularity.

The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) launched in 1985, and Super Mario Brothers was the first video game to feature a narrative that rivaled more complex computer games. Super Mario featured a simple storyline and accessible controls that appealed to a much broader audience, including girls, than the more male-oriented Atari games. The NES had a number of competitors, but Nintendo managed to dominate the home console market for most of its lifespan due to the availability of a wide variety of NES-compatible games.

The 1990s

From a time when we all dressed in denim and sang along to the Macarena to when pagers were the newest trend, the 1990s was a decade of cultural shifts and innovation. Whether you are an adult who grew up with the sitcom Friends, or a child who learned to count with Sesame Street, the ’90s left an impression on the world of pop culture that is still evident today. Having a coach can make you more adept at CS:GO.

The 1990s also saw a number of advances in video game technology, including the introduction of 4th generation 16-bit systems. These systems, with their greater processing power, enabled more complex games and introduced a new level of interactivity. One of the most significant advances in the 1990s, however, was the development of Internet-enabled consoles, which allowed gamers to play with each other over the Internet.

This development paved the way for eGaming, which allows viewers to watch their favourite gamers in action, much as people would watch a football game. While eGaming has surged in popularity in recent years, the concept actually dates back to the early 1980s when tournaments were first held for arcade games such as Space Invaders and Pac-Man.

Other software companies tried to compete with Nintendo in the home console market in the 1990s, with Atari releasing the 2600jr and 7800 systems. However, these systems failed to make an impact on the gaming industry due to poor marketing strategies and insufficient technical capabilities (Kline, 2007).

The ’90s also saw a major shift in television programming with shows such as The Simpsons, Seinfeld, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and The OC becoming cultural touchstones with their witty writing and relatable storylines. The ’90s was also a time of political change, with the collapse of the Soviet Union marking an end to decades of Cold War tension and the tragic Columbine High School shooting shedding light on gun violence and mass killings. Despite these darker aspects of the decade, the ’90s is considered by many to be a time of relative peace and prosperity.

The 2000s

Each decade has a distinct identity that is shaped by the events and culture of the time. The 1960s are famously associated with flower power and leather jackets, while the 1970s spawned disco and glam rock. The 2000s are no different, with the era being defined by flip phone technology and Windows software. However, this was also a time of great innovation in video games.

Online capabilities became much more advanced, allowing gamers to play against and interact with millions of people around the world. This allowed for a greater sense of competition and teamwork that had never been possible before. It also encouraged a larger audience to become involved in gaming, including people who had not previously played video games.

Another major development in the 2000s was the creation of eSports, or electronic sports. While competitive gaming has existed in some form for decades, eSports brought the idea into the mainstream and allowed professional gamers to turn their hobby into a full-time career.

The emergence of the Internet also gave rise to a new type of video game called a multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). These games allow for a large number of players to play and interact with each other over the Internet, using characters that they create themselves. These games can be incredibly addictive and provide a unique social experience for those who enjoy them.

During the 2000s, the gaming industry saw an increase in family-oriented games that encouraged families to play together. This was an attempt to attract a new generation of gamers and make the genre more accessible to people of all ages. In addition, mobile gaming technologies developed, enabling users to play games on their smartphones. This boosted the popularity of mobile games and helped the industry grow even further.

In 2001, two major consoles were released to compete with the PlayStation 2. The Microsoft Xbox offered more functionality than other consoles at the time, including DVD playback capabilities, while Nintendo’s GameCube focused solely on gaming functions. Both of these systems sold well, but did not achieve the sales success of the PS2.…

Tips and Tricks for Home Remodeling on a Tight Timeline

Remodeling your home is a big undertaking. It’s important to plan the project well in advance to avoid any hiccups in your timeline and budget.

Taking down pictures, moving furniture and packing away valuables before remodeling starts will help keep your space safe and minimize the time needed for cleanup. Covering immovable fixtures like built-in cabinets or flooring with cardboard sheets will protect them from dust and damage.

Start Early

Home remodeling is a big undertaking, and launching a project without a clear plan of action is like embarking on a journey without a map. Before you start pulling up drywall and knocking down walls, take the time to clearly define your goals and communicate them with your team. This will help keep you on track and avoid costly mistakes. You might be using one of these if you ever need to detect lead on the surfaces of your home.

It’s also important to hire a remodeling contractor you can trust. Ask friends and family for recommendations, or check with your local consumer protection agency, disciplinary boards, and business records to find a reputable remodeler with extensive experience and a proven track record. You may also want to consider a design-build firm such as DFW Improved, which is skilled in visualizing designs and turning ideas into plans.

Another thing to keep in mind is that many remodeling projects require specific permits, and the process of acquiring these can take time. If you can, try to start the project during the fall or winter, when local governments tend to be less busy and permit processing times are usually shorter.

When it comes to your day-to-day living, it’s important to be prepared for disruptions and chaos throughout the remodeling process. If you’re tackling a kitchen or bathroom, it’s likely that you will need to make arrangements for cooking and cleaning in a different part of your house or work from home during the renovation. If you have children, you’ll need to think about how they will navigate the changes and be sure to find childcare if necessary.

It’s also a good idea to tackle one room at a time, rather than several smaller projects. This will give you a sense of accomplishment, and it’s typically less expensive for contractors to complete one larger job than multiple smaller ones. Moreover, it’s often easier to obtain discounts on materials when you order them in large quantities. Besides, the contractors will be able to deliver and install your new kitchen or bathroom faster when they have all the parts and pieces on hand. This will save you even more money.

Be Prepared for Unexpected Issues

During remodeling, things can go wrong. The best way to prevent these problems is to hire a professional contractor who understands home improvement projects. A reputable contractor will anticipate problems and make allowances for them in their bids, which saves homeowners money in the long run. Additionally, a contingency fund can be used to cover unexpected expenses that may arise during the remodel.

Remodeling causes disruption to your daily routine and lifestyle. Unless you plan on staying in your home during the remodel, it’s important to communicate with your contractor about the schedule and work around your family’s day-to-day activities. Contractors should be willing to start work at times that will not interfere with your regular household activity, such as before or after school or before or after dinner.

In addition, make sure your contractor is aware of the environmental impact of your remodel project. Using materials that leave a smaller carbon footprint and energy-efficient fixtures can reduce your long-term home energy costs, while also making the project more appealing to future buyers.

Finally, don’t forget to factor in your mental health. Remodeling can be stressful and emotional, especially if you are living in the home during construction. Make sure you find time for self-care to keep your mental health in check during the remodel.

Remember, when it comes to home improvement, the most important thing is to have a clear vision of what you want the end result to be. If you have a firm idea of what you’re trying to accomplish, it will be easier to manage your budget and timelines. Be sure to research local zoning laws and permits early on in your planning stages.

Be Flexible

It’s important to be flexible for home remodeling on a tight timeline. Contractors can’t read minds, so if you have a concern or change of heart during the project, make sure you communicate it clearly. If you’re working with a general contractor, be sure to find one who has more than three years of experience, membership in the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), a good reputation with the Better Business Bureau, and positive customer references.

Additionally, consider future needs when planning your home renovation. For example, if you anticipate starting a family in the near future or need to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, include flexibility in the design by adding extra space or widening doorways as needed.

Weather conditions can also cause unforeseen delays, especially if you’re working on outdoor tasks like spray painting and wood cutting. Check long- and short-term weather forecasts, and schedule projects that require outside access on days with the best outlook.

Changing your mind mid-project isn’t uncommon, and how a remodeler handles these changes can give you insight into their problem-solving skills, flexibility, and communication style. If you decide to make changes during the process, discuss how this will affect your overall costs and deadlines with the contractor so everyone is on the same page. For example, you may need to delay the finish date by a few weeks if materials have to be reordered or if workers will be waiting for materials to arrive at the job site.…
